Black Friday. The biggest shopping day of the year is upon us. However, holiday shoppers can now look forward to in-store promotions and online deals from retailers actually starting on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day!
Black Friday sales are starting on Turkey Day
Many retailers are now opening up their doors on Thanksgiving Day to give consumers a head start to the traditional Black Friday shopping extravaganza. Given the shorter shopping season this year between Thanksgiving Day and Christmas with just four full weekends (not five), consumers are anxious to get busy checking gift items off of their lists.
According to a preliminary Thanksgiving weekend shopping survey taken by NRF earlier this month, up to 140 million people plan to shop over the upcoming four day weekend. For the first time, NRF asked if consumers plan to shop on Thanksgiving Day and nearly 25% said they do. That’s about 33 million shoppers.
What are marketers doing to lure shoppers in-stores over the holiday
